2 New Stacie Dolls! Dreamhouse Adventures & “Chelsea and the Lost Birthday” (+ BYS Barbie Makeup!!)

Oh. My. Gosh. It has been too long since I have updated this blog!! Things have been very crazzzyyyy! (But like… crazy in a good way!)

Firstly! I bought an apartment!

I know what you’re thinking – wait, Holly, aren’t you only 21? What are you doing buying an apartment??

Which is a fair question! It is a little bit crazy. It’s all part of my ~property investment strategy,~ where I plan to buy several properties and rent them out to other people in order to make some passive income. I want to buy a proper house in two years! (Like, not an apartment but a proper house with a garden and a full-sized bathtub).

You’re probably wondering, how on Earth did you manage to buy an apartment at this age? Did your parents give you the money?

Nope! They did not. I’m pretty happy that I saved up every single cent myself. I worked 3 casual jobs for a long time, and now I work 1 full-time job (meanwhile also paying rent, and volunteering, and going to university full-time, which has been VERY FUN and NOT STRESSFUL AT ALL).

The apartment is pretty run-down, to be honest. It’s 50 years old and had a gas leak (don’t worry, I fixed it) and there’s mould everywhere and the suburb is full of crime (sometimes at night I wake up and think “was that fireworks or gunshots?) and the carpet is lifting up and there’s cracks everywhere and oh God, I could go on forever. But nonetheless! I am happy.

I’m keeping it a secret from everyone IRL but I wanted to tell you guys here on the blog.

It has been really fun to decide the furniture and paint the walls and set everything up. I still need to get some things organised (like the couch I want is currently out of stock!) but generally, it’s on the right track! I want to buy an IKEA shelf to display all my Barbies in.

This is the one I’m thinking:

BILLY Bookcase, white, 80x28x106 cm

It’s only $55 which I feel is a good price because I’ll keep it for a long time. It’s the Billy, 80x28x106. When I set it up, I’ll show you guys some pictures!

I really want to have my Barbie stuff set up where it can be easily accessed so I can use it more often. (At the moment everything is piled up in boxes and it’s really annoying to drag out of storage)

Anyway! Now that that exciting news is out of the way, I have three things to talk about today! Feel free to skip ahead.

1.) Barbie x BYS makeup

2.) Stacie Doll “Chelsea and the Lost Birthday”

3.) Stacie Doll “Dreamhouse Adventures”

Recently, BYS had a collaboration with Barbie, sold exclusively at Big W. BYS is a popular drugstore makeup brand, like L’Oreal or Maybelline. The collection was on clearance so I only managed to get the last 4 things. I think there were other colours available but they must have sold out.

This is the complexion palette. There’s a highlight, bronzer and then four types of blush. I haven’t tried any of the products yet, but the colours look nice enough.

I don’t really use drugstore makeup, I usually prefer high-end / luxury brands (I do makeup as a side job, so it needs to be really high quality), so I haven’t used BYS in a long time. I’m definitely interested to try it out!

This is the liquid eyeshadow. I’m not a big fan of liquid eyeshadow as it tends to clump together, but we’ll see! Perhaps it will look better on the face for a Pride or festival look.

This is the lipstick. I looovee the packaging, it looks so glamorous! The colour is a soft pink.

The next thing I wanted to talk about is my two new Stacie dolls! I bought the first one because I liked her outfit and accessories, and I bought the second one because I liked the articulation. It’s difficult to find Stacie and Skipper dolls with articulation!

This is the back of the box. I tried to look up information about Chelsea and the Lost Birthday but I couldn’t find anything – it seems like perhaps a new Dreamhouse Adventures special episode?

Out of the box, this is what the doll looks like! Her face is cute and sweet.

Here you can see her full outfit. Her shoes keep slipping off, so I would recommend putting some Blu-Tac underneath her feet.

Here she is with the snorkel. It fits quite well! The band at the back is adjustable, so I bet it would fit adult Barbie dolls as well.

Here’s the accessories she came with. The swimsuit is really cute! I could have done without Rookie, the dog, but oh well.

The suitcase actually opens up! I was quite impressed because usually they are just a plastic box that you can’t use for anything.

Here’s the back of the Dreamhouse Adventures doll.

Here she is out of the box. I really like her basketball uniform!

Here’s a close-up of her face. It’s pretty much the same as the other Stacie doll.

The basketball hoop was really easy to set up. I’m glad that the basketball has a little loop on it so that Stacie can hold it.

Here she is standing next to the hoop. At the bottom, there is a little indent so the basketball can sit without rolling away. What a nice touch!

There’s also a medal which is around Stacie’s neck, it’s really cute. I love little accessories like that, they really add to the storytelling.

Overall, I’m really happy with all my purchases! I’m going to try and not buy much more Barbie stuff for the rest of the year, as I really want to save up for a house deposit.

  1. Firstly congratulations on becoming a home owner. You have had a busy time. I hope you have been able to sort out the mould issue. That stuff is very dangerous and can cause respiratory issues.
Your two Stacie’s are both very cute . I do like the new look Stacie and it is nice to get one with articulation. I hope that Mattel will make her some little outfits.

    1. Thank you! I scrubbed most of it off; it wasn’t that hard to clean which was good, haha.

Ooh wouldn’t it be nice if there were fashion packs for Stacie dolls! I hadn’t thought of that, but that’s a great idea. It’s annoying that you have to buy a whole new doll just for the clothes.

      1. Fashion packs for Skipper, Stacie and Chelsea would add so much more play value for kids. I really don’t know why they don’t do it.
Regarding the mould, if it comes back a 5:1 solution of vinegar and water is good for removing it. You can also use oil of cloves but you do have to be careful using it even though you only need a few drops per bucket.
