OMG! Skipper Babysitters Inc. Doll (New 2018!) “Stephanie”

Today I popped into Kmart, Big W and Target to have a little look and see if there were any new Barbies. There was nothing new in Big W so I didn’t bother to take any photos, but I did find some new things in Kmart and Target…

First up, Target!

A new Club Chelsea doll! This cutie was only $9 and I was very tempted to get her, but then I thought “what do I need another child doll for?” I like how she’s wearing proper shorts, not one of those cheap skirts, and I like her tanned skin against the long dark hair. I think she looks very pretty!

I might end up getting her later. I’m glad her eyes aren’t so big as the others.

There was also the standard Dreamtopia dolls, the beach budget dolls and a couple of Fashionistas.

I saw a new Ken Fashionista -this bloke has very yellow hair and he looks a bit ‘orange.’ Maybe a date for that tanned Barbie I saw the other day??

Man Bun Ken was there as well. Every time I see him, I think “I should buy him!” but I never do. I don’t really need another Ken doll.

Over to Kmart…

Kmart is always the best place to visit for the newest releases, I’ve found. Today I saw this new cupcake decorating doll, I think you can actually decorate the cupcakes somehow. That’s a cute touch! I like how the apron and the cooking utensils aren’t all pink.

I also saw a ballet instructor doll -I’ve seen similar dolls on Mattel Shop and Amazon, but I think this one is new. I wonder whether her leotard is real, or stuck-on.

And then, the most exciting thing… A Barbie Skipper Babysitters Inc. Doll! She was the very last one, and she didn’t even have a price tag (but when I scanned her at the cash register, she was $13, which I think is an excellent price).

I’ve done a video review and unboxing of her, but if you don’t want to watch it, just scroll down for photos!

Check out the video here.

Here are the accessories the doll came with -only the mobile phone and the bottle is real. I will be throwing away the rest because I personally don’t need them, BUT I think it’s a really great idea because it includes additional accessories with hardly any cost to the company.

She is the exact same height as Skipper and her body type is the same. However, her legs are hollow so she falls over quite a bit and she cannot sit by herself. She cannot sit on a chair without sliding off.

This is the back of the box. I think all of the dolls are cute, I really want them all!

Her hair is very curly at the back. I found that the doll’s hair always falls out, however it comes out in strands, not in fat clumps. I had lots of hair all over the table and my clothes after unboxing!

I think her freckles are really cute. Her eye shape is different to Skipper’s, but I don’t think that’s a big deal. There is also two scratches on her face -one on the eye, and another one on the face. You can’t tell in the photo though.

Her dress is really cute and the pattern goes all the way around. There is a strip of Velcro at the back. It’s a shame I won’t be able to squeeze it onto regular Barbie dolls, but maybe I can fit it onto a petite doll.

Overall, I’m so so ridiculously happy with my purchase! I’m so happy that Skipper has modern-day friends now, it opens up a lot more storylines.

And now, for the name-reveal… Drum roll, please…

The new doll’s name is Stephanie! I think that’s a really cute and sweet-sounding name, like somebody who volunteers at animal centres and helps young children with their maths homework.

What do you think of this doll? My main gripes are her hollow legs! But other than that, I’m very pleased.

  1. I want one too! It was already high in my list of things I want from the 2018 releases. Now it is the top thing. I went to Kmart a few days ago, but there wasn’t any Skipper Babysitters there. What country are you in?
